Suppress the barcode

Hold the QR code back until you're ready to show it — while still getting the mobile ticket, with its pre-orders and info, into customers' hands days ahead. Useful against touts, and for any group you'd rather see at the box office.

What it does

Barcode suppression hides the QR code on the mobile ticket until a time you choose. The customer still gets their link — they can pre-order, read FAQs, find you on the map — they just can't see the scannable code until it's released.

When to use it

  • High-profile shows. If touts can screenshot a barcode and sell it on to several people, releasing the code only an hour before shuts that down — while your pre-show emails still go out days ahead, safely.
  • Groups you want to see in person. Some venues fully suppress certain ticket types — students who need to show ID at the box office, or press and VIP guests you'd rather greet before the show.

Turn it on

Suppression is configured by our team. Email support@encorepro.com and tell us:

  1. Which tickets to suppress
  2. Whether to release them at a set time or hide them entirely
  3. The message you want shown over the barcode until it's released
